Dr. Ravi Kant Mishra is a Professor and Dean at SLIET Longowal with 28+ years of leadership in Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Space Science, known for his extensive research in modified gravity theories and cosmological modeling. As the founder of the SLIET Antriksha Vigyan Society, he mentors student-led space research, while his academic footprint spans invited lectures at premier astrophysics forums across the USA and Europe, service as former Registrar of NIT Puducherry, and membership on Faculty Selection Boards across multiple NITs.

About Us

Who We Are

The SLIET Antriksh Vigyan Society was conceived and established by Prof. Ravi Kant Mishra, Founder President, with the vision of bringing together research scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, faculty colleagues, and other enthusiasts who share a keen interest in astronomy, astrophysics and space science.

The Society is a vibrant academic community at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, dedicated to connecting theoretical knowledge with practical applications in space science and technology. Through telescope-based observations, satellite systems, computational astrophysics, research collaborations, expert lectures, workshops and public outreach programmes, we seek to encourage scientific curiosity, interdisciplinary learning and innovative research.

Our mission is to provide an inclusive platform where learners, researchers and mentors can exchange ideas, undertake meaningful scientific activities and inspire the wider community to explore and understand the universe.

Advancing Frontiers

Today, the SLIET Antriksha Vigyan Society brings together undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, faculty members and astronomy enthusiasts to advance the frontiers of space science. Through stargazing and astronomical observations, advanced optical instrumentation, computational astrophysics, satellite engineering and interdisciplinary research, the Society seeks to transform scientific curiosity into meaningful discovery and innovation.

Outreach & Inspiration

With a special commitment to Punjab, the Society aims to spread scientific awareness among young people, particularly students from schools, colleges and rural communities. Through outreach programmes, workshops, expert lectures, sky-observation sessions and interactive scientific activities, it seeks to inspire the next generation to pursue education, research and careers in astronomy and space technology.

Vision and Objectives

Our vision is to establish SLIET as a leading hub in the Punjab region for student-driven innovation, research and exploration in astronomy, astrophysics and space science. The Society aims to promote hands-on learning through advanced optical instruments, observational astronomy, computational studies and satellite-design projects.

Through this Society, we seek to motivate undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members to pursue high-quality interdisciplinary research in astrophysics and allied areas. We also aim to spread scientific awareness among the youth of Punjab, especially in schools, colleges and rural communities, by organising outreach programmes, workshops, lectures, sky-observation sessions and space-science activities.

By nurturing scientific curiosity, innovation and collaboration, the Society aspires to develop a new generation of researchers and space enthusiasts capable of contributing meaningfully to India’s growing space and astronomical research ecosystem.
